PAWLICKI POSITIVE ABOUT PREMIERSHIP
PIOTR Pawlicki admits the strength of the British Premiership was a key factor behind him signing for Birmingham.

The Pole is making a return to racing in the UK – ten years since he last featured when he rode for Wolverhampton.

He will begin the season as the Brummies’ No.1 as the club step back up to the top flight, and the former World No.6 feels his move to Perry Barr can help his career.

He said: “The British league is now much stronger and it is back to the top and the level it was 10/20 years ago, so that is good.

“Many good riders now come to England and this is good for me to help me get back to my best.”

BOWEN FIRED IN CAKE CALAMITY
PAUL Bowen has been fired from BBC One show The Apprentice after his team were beaten in a challenge to create and market cheesecakes.

The director of Chorley-based Bowen Pies, who has also raced extensively for Belle Vue in the National Development League, was installed a sub-team leader of the boys’ team for the task – but they suffered defeat for the second week running.

Bowen faced criticism for pitching a chocolate cheesecake concept to a corporate client whose branding was based around fruit and vegetables, whilst the opposing team secured a more lucrative deal in this section of the task.

Confirming his decision, Lord Alan Sugar said: “I admire you for admitting your mistakes, but there were simply too many mistakes, and so it is with regret Paul, you’re fired.”
