REPORT: PREMIERSHIP PAIRS, R3

Thursday July 07, 2022
WOLVERHAMPTON’s woes in the Premiership Pairs continued as they were unable to add any points to their total for a second event running.

Just as they did at Ipswich, the Parrys International Wolves finished last out of the six clubs in Round Three at King’s Lynn.

Captain Sam Masters, nursing a foot injury sustained in a crash in Poland last weekend, was joined by Steve Worrall after team manager Peter Adams had a late change of heart, replacing Nick Morris.

They conceded advantages to Belle Vue and the hosts in their opening two outings though, leaving the Monmore men on the back foot in the early exchanges.

They did tuck in behind Sheffield’s Jack Holder for a 5-4, and that scoreline was repeated when they met Peterborough too.

Former triple British Champion Chris Harris took the victory for the Panthers while Worrall secured second.

But Rising Star Leon Flint rode a smart race to claim third ahead of former World Cup winner Hans Andersen.

Masters was feeling some discomfort in that right foot once again from a tough King’s Lynn track and sat out of his final outing.

Flint and Worrall couldn’t gain anything on that occasion though and conceded a 7-2 to Ipswich - who went on to win a second consecutive round and now lead the series overall.

The Parrys International Wolves will be looking for vast improvement in the competition when they host Round Four at Monmore on Monday, July 18 (7.30).

Before that though they have league trips to Peterborough this coming Monday (July 11, 7.30) and King’s Lynn next Thursday (July 14, 7.30).
