AMERICAN ACE RELISHING BANK HOLIDAY DOUBLE

Sunday August 29, 2021
BROC Nicol is relishing his first British Bank Holiday double-header as Wolves tackle Belle Vue twice in one day – and he is hoping to repeat past magic in Manchester.

The Parrys International Wolves head to the National Speedway Stadium for a noon showdown before coming back to more familiar territory for an 8pm tapes up against the Aces at Monmore Green.

American ace Nicol, who bagged an impressive eight as Wolverhampton won 50-40 at Belle Vue earlier in the season, has never done two league meetings in a day before but other than trying to get a bit of rest in between he will change little behind the scenes.

“I am looking forward to going back there,” said Nicol.

“I enjoyed my last visit to Belle Vue and felt really comfortable so I am looking to put some points on the board.

“This will be the first time I have done a double header and again it is something I am looking forward to. I don’t think I will do too much differently, maybe find a driver so I can have a sleep, but I will treat both fixtures like any other meeting.

“I’ll have some spare stuff set up so I can pop in new clutch plates for the second meeting, other than that I will just be focused on making some starts and keeping the confidence rolling.

“Hopefully we can have two good meetings to help us seal the deal at the top of the table.”

Strong results would add to Wolverhampton’s six-point lead at the SGB Premiership summit with no other team racing on Monday, although the team will have to do without Nick Morris who is seeing out a mandatory nine-day rest period having suffered concussion at King’s Lynn on Thursday.

Wolves have booked in-form Richard Lawson for the match at Belle Vue and will run rider replacement at Monmore Green.

The Aces track a full one-to-seven in both meetings and include Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen who has been called up on a 28-day deal to stand in for the injured Richie Worrall.
