WOLVERHAMPTON can confirm their opening night will be Monday May 3.

The club are to host an open meeting to allow their riders the opportunity to take to the track competitively for the first time in 18 months. The format will be revealed in due course.

The first home league meeting will be against Premiership newcomers Sheffield on Monday May 10.

Parrys International Wolves hit the road for their first away trip on May 6 at King’s Lynn.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: “We are delighted to see the fixture list and all eyes are now on May and our return.

“We are currently working hard behind the scenes to finalise our team plans but one thing is for sure our aim is to compete for the top four and ultimately another league title.

“We should have some news on our British youngster in the next few weeks and who will make way from last season’s team.”

British Speedway Promoters Ltd Board member Chris Louis is excited by the plans.

He said: “When you see a fixture list then it starts to become real. We are delighted to be working closely with Eurosport at the start of an exciting new era for the sport in this country.

“The reaction to the rising star scheme has been extremely positive and the way the Premiership is shaping up it promises to be extremely competitive.”

The British Final has been inked in for Monday August 16 at Belle Vue.
