WOLVERHAMPTON have finally bagged Aussie ace Sam Masters for another season at Monmore.

Masters has secured the necessary documentation to race in two leagues throughout the UK and is the final piece in the Parrys International Wolves team jigsaw.

Promoter Chris Van Straaten is relieved to have the move rubber stamped and the club can now step up preparations for the new season.

“Thankfully everything is in place and we can now confirm Sam as part of the team,” he said. “He’s a good guy and a very classy rider on his day and I believe we can get more out of him next season.

“He was always keen to be back with us and we’re delighted to have everything in place. The riders know each other well throughout the team and it’s an opportunity for us to go one better than last season and go all the way in the play-offs.

“Sam has had a lot on his plate by becoming a new Dad and a busy schedule last season and I’m sure he will have a good season with us.”

Van Straaten also understands some criticism from fans who have pointed to the fact that they are below the points limit in team building.

“Yes we are below but with Broc Nicol in the side we have a rider who has never even ridden at this level, so we don’t know the realistic figure,” he said.

“I know I’ve been criticised but when you look down the side there is improvement in most of the team.

“We have riders like Nick Morris and Jacob Thorssell who started last season on the injured list, I’m certain they will hit the ground running this year and we can be successful.”

Skipper Rory Schlein will join club bosses at the open day for club sponsors Parrys International tomorrow (Sunday) between 10am and 3pm.

They are based at Landywood Green in Cheslyn Hay WS6 7QX and fans are welcome to attend to chat all things speedway and take a look at Parrys’ new coach tour brochure for the year ahead.
